The Dearborn Heights School District #7 Board approved a facility dog program for Bedford Elementary and allocated $20,000 in Title I funds to support implementation.
According to the superintendent/finance report, $13,000 of the total would cover the facility dog, first-year training, crate, leash and vaccinations; the remaining $7,000 would cover an additional crate, staff training, beds, poles and other necessary supplies. The motion to approve the program was moved and carried by roll call.
Trustees recorded the funding source as Title I and discussed implementation logistics; administration indicated staff training will be part of the rollout. The board carried the motion by roll call; administration will follow up on procurement and training schedules.
