At the Aug. 5, 2026 Dearborn Heights School District #7 Board of Education meeting, a local cruise group presented a $10,000 check to the Annapolis Athletic Department in memory of Andy Kwame.
Mister Finance invited organizers forward for a brief presentation. Dave and Jimmy described reviving the local "cruise the Ave" tradition and asked that proceeds be used to support students. Organizers thanked the Dearborn Heights Police for assistance and presented the check. As Jimmy said, "Dollars 10,000, dollars 10,000 to the Annapolis Athletic Department." The board and district staff recognized the group with a certificate of appreciation and posed for a photograph.
The presenters said the event has grown annually and is used to raise funds for district programs. No formal board vote was recorded accepting the donation beyond presenting the certificate and photos during superintendent's reports. The district staff reading the certificate thanked the organizers "on behalf of Dearborn Heights School District number 7" for their support of Annapolis High School and district 7 schools.
Board members offered brief thanks and the meeting moved on to the superintendent's other items.
