Union City plans sinkhole repair and smoke testing at Municipal Lot #1

Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips and Borough Manager Cindy Wells reported on recommended repairs to sinkholes in Municipal Lot #1. Mansfield will fill the sinkhole, replace approximately 10 feet of pipe and install a new catch basin; the borough plans to perform a smoke-and-dye test after that work is completed.
Officials said they are awaiting quotes from JT Patching and Paving and Cross Paving to repave the affected area and the catch-basin location. The borough will notify nearby business owners and the Union City Volunteer Fire Department before the smoke testing is scheduled.
