McLeod County commissioners on Aug. 4 approved multiple public‑works actions: a change order for countywide aggregate surfacing, an award for the Lake Marion Park public water access project, and an award for a bridge replacement on County Road 57.
Public Works Director Andrew explained Change Order No. 1 for project CP026000009 adds $2,890.80 to cover contractor loading costs (about $0.30/ton for ~9,636 tons), funded from the highway maintenance budget. The board approved that change order.
For Lake Marion Park, the board accepted a $309,197.15 low bid from Jewel Underground LLC (Hutchinson), noting the DNR grant covers up to $425,000 and the county will be reimbursed. The project includes landing reconstruction, ADA parking, an aquatic invasive‑species area and stormwater treatment, and the bid was below the engineer's estimate.
The board also awarded SAP 043598016 (County Road 57 bridge over High Island Creek) to Redstone Construction LLC (Mora) at $1,090,461.75. The local bridge replacement program provided $884,742 toward the project and the county share is $205,719.75. Redstone is expected to begin work within weeks and complete the project by October.
