Union representative urges apprenticeships, local hire on school projects

Several committee members and staff responded that local-hire and workforce training clauses are being included in some Requests for Proposals and that the district is seeking local hiring commitments from contractors on larger projects such as the Inglewood High and Oak Street lease-leaseback contracts.
Committee members asked staff to return with metrics showing how contractors prioritize local hiring and apprenticeship opportunities for the next meeting.
