Staff proposes business advisory group to connect local demand with developers

Tammy Gotchel said she will start a business advisory group to convene local business owners and gather feedback on needs and hurdles; she offered to take the initial lead as staff representative.
"I'm gonna try to get business owners together, so maybe meeting quarterly... EDC could even be a part of those meetings," Tammy said, describing a forum to identify gaps (for example, elevator technicians) and to introduce developers to proven local demand. Members supported the idea as a practical way to pair market demand with land-use planning.
The advisory group is intended to be complementary to the commission's advisory role to the planning commission and select board and to produce concrete demand-side arguments when negotiating or recommending development designs.
