Placentia business manager urges action after repeated thefts near Water Channel

Property manager Zach Mayer told the council he manages 718 and 719 Lakeview Loop and that his properties have experienced repeated thefts and vandalism linked to unhoused encampments near the Water Channel. He said incidents have included stolen backflow devices and electrical wiring, thefts that forced tenants onto fire watch and substantial repair bills.
"We've had several incidents... stealing our bypass directly off of our fire riser... required us to go on fire watch, which is a very expensive... I had to spend several thousand dollars for the fire watch and replacing the fire infrastructure to become code compliant," Mayer said. He said police have been helpful but have limited options and asked the council for assistance to make the area safer for tenants and businesses.
