When asked how they would communicate with constituents, candidates emphasized district-level responsiveness and concrete outreach measures.
Jeremy Yamaguchi said districting helps focus representation but he emphasized citywide responsibility and said he maintains posted office hours at City Hall and publishes contact information online so residents can reach him by phone, text or social media. "Those availabilities are posted online... My cell phone number, email address, all that information is posted online so people can text," Yamaguchi said.
Other candidates proposed similar measures: Colson Hauck Teal said he updated campaign materials to include his phone number to be directly reachable; Tom Hummer and Ward Smith emphasized being present in their districts and working collaboratively with staff to respond to constituent concerns. Several candidates promised regular availability and responsiveness as a priority if elected.
The forum did not enact a new outreach policy; candidates presented communication approaches they would adopt if elected.
