Placentia honors Hunger Action Month as county food insecurity figures cited

The council recognized Hunger Action Month and invited Sarah Bazan, director of marketing and public affairs at 2nd Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, to describe local food‑security conditions and ways residents can help. Bazan, speaking on behalf of the Orange County Hunger Alliance, reported countywide figures — roughly 330,000 people and over 85,000 children in Orange County who are food insecure — and urged residents to visit feedoc.org/hungeractionmonth for volunteer and donation opportunities.
"Together, we're committed to reducing food waste, ending poverty and hunger, and providing dignified, equitable, and consistent access to the healthiest food possible for the most vulnerable among us," Bazan said. Council members thanked the food bank for its work and noted the city will share the organization’s materials with residents.
