The board honored Simley High School teachers Gretchen Birkholz (Math and Computer Science), Nora Austin (Science) and Rick Tavernier (Social Studies) as recipients of the district's 2025–2026 Inclusive Educator Award. Director of Special Services Abel Riodique introduced the honorees as the meeting's district highlights.
Superintendent Dave Bernhardson also congratulated the district's winter Spartan Spirit Award winners, naming Kelly Darrow, physical education teacher at Pine Bend Elementary School, and Ruby Cano Berrios, an EL paraprofessional at Hilltop Elementary School. Bernhardson said these employees "were selected for embodying the district's mission, 'Inspire. Innovate. Excel. A Community Commitment.'"
