City Manager Atkinson reviewed the employee education assistance program, noting it began with ARPA funds and that the initial allocation ran out in May or June. He proposed continuing the program in the budget with $275,000 and placing it in a capital project so unspent dollars can be tracked and carried over as needed.
"Last year, we had the employee education assistance program that was funded by ARPA… I'm suggesting 275,000 for it," Atkinson said, adding that the program has helped a large number of city employees obtain formal education they otherwise would not have pursued. Councilors asked how much had been spent year to date and whether the total with roll-ins would remain under $275,000; Atkinson said he expects some leftover dollars but the ARPA amount would be expended on the fall semester.
