Minnewaska highlights summer Community Education programs; director to retire

The Minnewaska Area Schools Board used the June 16 meeting to recognize strong participation in district Community Education programs this summer. The Laker Legends Child Care program is hosting 94 children under Program Coordinator Magan Anderson; the Summer Strength and Speed "MAD" training involves over 160 student-athletes in grades 7–12 coordinated by Jeremy Christensen, Jared Lyle and MAHS coaching staff; and the June Summer Recreation program engaged more than 135 elementary students under Linda Mills’s coordination.
The board thanked coordinators and staff for their work and specifically acknowledged Bill Mills, the Community Education Director, who will retire at the end of the month after many years of service. Board members said they intend to build on current programming momentum heading into the 2025–26 school year.
