Board hears plan to diagnose and restore middle-school HVAC dampers

Facilities staff reported that several HVAC dampers in the middle‑school corridors are currently offline and, in some cases, physically stuck open or frozen, producing inconsistent temperature and airflow. Staff said they plan to solicit quotes to return the dampers to a remotely controlled system so building dampers can be adjusted without rooftop access.
Board members acknowledged the comfort and maintenance concerns but cautioned that opening the system may reveal additional issues and higher costs. "Sometimes those freeze over, sometimes they get locked because of expansion," the facilities presenter said, explaining why the district is seeking an assessment and cost estimate before committing to work.
