She described recurring power-outage problems tied to network switches that power Wi‑Fi, phones and door security and recommended larger battery backups and a 30‑amp electrical upgrade to increase uptime. "For like $500 we can become a member of that and they have a team of lawyers that view vendor agreements," she said, describing membership in a student data privacy consortium to ensure vendor contracts protect student data.
Other planned work includes warranty extensions for servers, outdoor Wi‑Fi improvements (not E‑rate eligible), Chromebook replacements for preschool and kindergarten classrooms, and switching the district internet provider to Western Iowa Networks to access a 5‑gig, E‑rate‑eligible service. Shelly said some purchases were time-sensitive because of supply shortages and suggested early procurement where feasible.
