District presents DCAP: nine students on track to earn Iowa Western associate degrees

Career coaches Jenny Behrens and Danny Falsinger walked the board through the district’s DCAP and its five essential components: self-understanding, career information, exploration experiences, work-based learning and senior-year decision supports. Behrens said the district switched to the "I Have a Plan Iowa" platform this year to link student inventories to Iowa workforce data and to support job shadows and career forums.
Falsinger highlighted postsecondary outcomes and work-based learning: nine students are projected to earn associate degrees from Iowa Western while completing high school, and the district continues partnerships with local employers for job shadows and internships. "We have 17 students in the Career Advantage Program," a coach noted while describing scholarship and internship requirements tied to that Iowa Western program. The presenters asked the board to support continued investment in the DCAP activities that enable college credits and paid internships.
