District science team recommends keeping Amplify for middle grades, pilots different high-school materials

The Treynor Community School District’s K–12 content lead summarized a multi-month piloting process and urged the board to consider targeted adoptions for the 2026–27 school year. Middle-school teachers who piloted Amplify Science recommended continuing with Amplify, citing stronger assessments and teacher-facing pacing supports. "They both said that that day at Riverside was great because it opened their eyes to the possibilities with open sci ed," the content lead said, noting teachers had observed sample classrooms before piloting.
High-school science pilots produced a range of recommendations. For physical science, staff recommended using a pure-physics curriculum for the physics portion and retaining a supplemental resource for the chemistry half; one teacher said a chemistry pilot’s sequence would have required significant modification. For advanced physics, presenters recommended a college-level text paired with online mastering tools to support homework and assessment practice. The curriculum lead said the team plans to gather quotes and return a formal adoption recommendation to the board in June for a July 1 purchasing date.
