Board reviews 506-response community survey; identifies communication and safety as opportunities

The superintendent reported the district received 506 survey responses (331 students; 174 adults including 103 parents, 28 community members, and 41 staff) and used a Likert-style instrument converted to letter grades for reporting. He said the board will revisit the data in the spring work session and with the School Improvement Advisory Council (SIAC).
"So we did our community survey, and we had 506 responses," the superintendent said. He highlighted overall positives — breadth of offerings, academic challenge, staff care — and two areas for further study: communication/transparency about resources and a discrepancy across stakeholder groups on whether students feel safe from bullying and harassment. The board directed follow-up review with SIAC and the district leadership team to analyze comments and identify facts versus outlier anecdotes.
