Treynor board votes 4–1 to decline Hawkeye 10 invitation, remain in WIC

Activities Director (presenting facts to the board) summarized the options at the start of the discussion: "We have 3 possible actions tonight. Decline the invitation, accept the invitation, or ask for an extension," and reviewed survey results from coaches and community respondents. After discussion the board recorded a voice vote that carried 4–1 in favor of declining the Hawkeye 10 invitation.
Board members said the decision weighed participation and travel trade-offs rather than opposing the Hawkeye 10 invitation on principle. The activities director told the board that, in a coaches-and-sponsors poll completed at 4:30 p.m., 12 head coaches and sponsors voted to remain in the WIC, 3 voted to join the Hawkeye 10 and 2 were neutral.
The board president noted uncertainty about state-level oversight created by a new committee that "hasn't been formed" yet and said that, despite the invitation, the board was not persuaded an extension would change available information. The board thanked the Hawkeye 10 for its invitation and adopted the motion to decline the invitation.
The board also completed routine business (agenda approval and adjournment) before and after the conference discussion.
