Following the presentation and debate, administration asked the committee for directional guidance so staff could begin parcel‑level outreach and developer conversations. CEO Erica Bridal asked commissioners to provide guidance by the next August meeting so administration could begin “selling” the proposal to voters and talking with hotels and developers in the candidate corridors.
Administration emphasized that property purchase would not occur without a positive commission vote. Staff estimated the venue could draw roughly 137,000 out‑of‑town visitors annually if tournaments are attracted—an estimate administration said would inform hotel and commercial outreach. Commissioners agreed to direct staff to evaluate parcels in the western corridor while explicitly including urban‑core options per the substitute motion.
