Consultant recommends western Caddo Parish west of I‑49 for multi‑sport complex

Consultant Scott Wisong, who leads Wisong Brand Solutions, presented site criteria and recommended that the parish focus preliminary searches on the western part of Caddo Parish west of Interstate 49. He said the venue would need at least 12.5 acres (including parking) and that the recommended corridor offers multiple available parcels and better hotel and restaurant options than some other areas.

“Once again, some of these are agricultural lands... you need 12 and 0.5 acres,” Wisong said while describing site size and expansion potential. He reviewed three general areas—the I‑20 corridor (between I‑49 and Greenwood), the 3132 corridor, and the Burke/Perkins areas—pointing out tradeoffs: I‑20 has higher pass‑through traffic while other corridors may offer shorter drives from population centers. The consultant emphasized infrastructure differences (some sites have water/electric, others would require new utilities) and noted demolition costs on some existing parcels could be $3–5 million.

Officials stressed the recommendation is directional: administration will evaluate specific parcels based on commission guidance. The consultant also noted environmental and neighborhood considerations—greenscaping, buffering, and lighting—would be part of site planning.
