District seeks one-foot easement quitclaim to enable hydrant lateral for Madam Creek project

Will Stelter, the district's engineering manager, described a proposed quitclaim that would remove a one-foot sliver from an existing 17-foot sewer easement so the district can record a new water easement to install a fire hydrant lateral between Fern and Cherry. "The existing sewer easement is 17 feet wide, and so this quick claim would be a 1 foot sliver," he said. Stelter explained the change removes an encumbrance on one parcel while leaving a 16-foot sewer easement across the other properties and that the relocation is intended to meet fire district spacing needs.
Stelter said the Division of Drinking Water granted approval to allow less than 10 feet separation between the water line and sewer line in this alignment, enabling both utilities to fit spatially in the corridor. He characterized the settlement with the property owner as "a win win all the way around," and recommended the committee place the item on the board consent agenda.
