The committee heard a detailed update on the Tahoe City Community Center (TCCC) planning and feasibility project and a proposed three‑phase process with consultant support.
A staff member described the scope with VRS and said it “includes 3, different phases, 3 workshops.” Phase 1 will cover initial research and project planning with staff workshops; phase 2 will bring board review and direction (a Sept. 30 on‑site workshop is planned); and phase 3 will develop concept alternatives remotely before returning to the board for a final check‑in and a decision on whether to proceed to community outreach and design.
Staff framed the work as intentionally staged: an initial modest concept analysis to determine whether a phased aquatic or gymnasium facility will fit the site, followed by cost estimates and community engagement later in the process. If the board elects to advance a concept after the phase‑3 deliverable, staff said broader public outreach and additional design work would follow.
The committee agreed the step‑wise approach made sense and indicated staff should continue scheduling workshops and the site visit as described.
