Stegall elected board chair; Stevens named vice chair at Cascade School District #5

Brett Stegall was elected Board Chair of Cascade School District #5 at the board's July 14, 2025 regular meeting. The motion to elect Stegall, moved by Ruth Stevens and seconded by Aaron Lee, "carried (Mr. Stegall abstained; Ms. Stevens and Mr. Lee voted yes)."
The board also elected Ruth Stevens as Vice Chair after a nomination from Aaron Lee; that motion "carried (Ms. Stevens abstained; Mr. Stegall and Mr. Lee voted yes)." The minutes note that Stegall, Lee and Spencer Rockwell had been re-elected in the State of Oregon special election on May 20, 2025; Rockwell was absent and will be administered the oath of office at the August meeting.
The votes were recorded as formal motions in the meeting minutes and are reflected in the board's actions for July 14. No public comment was offered during the meeting. The board convened and completed these organizational items at the start of the regular session before moving to reports and resolutions.
