On April 24, 2025, the Corvallis School District 509J Budget Committee received an orientation on the district budget process from Finance Director Lauren Wolfe.
Wolfe told the committee that the process is governed by "Oregon's local budget law" and outlined standard procedures including budget preparations, Budget Committee meetings, public hearings and final adoption. She read the district's Budget Parameters and told members the Budget Committee's role: to hear the budget message, consider public input, discuss and revise the proposed budget, and approve the budget and tax rates. Wolfe emphasized the committee "does not set salaries, benefits, staffing levels, or policy decisions." The slides and packet materials will be posted online and filed with the 2024-25 Committee records.
The orientation established the legal framework and procedural limits for the committee as it prepares to review proposed appropriations. Superintendent Ryan Noss led introductions at the start of the meeting and staff indicated follow-up materials and the presentation slides will be made available to committee members and the public.
