District highlights reading training, Algebra completion and AP exam participation

Superintendent Ryan Noss reported that "75% of K-3 teachers, special education staff, language development specialists, and principals participated in professional development on the science of reading" and that 85% of students completed Algebra I in 8th or 9th grade. The minutes record that Crescent Valley and Corvallis high schools administered 450 and 520 AP exams, respectively, last academic year.
The Board also heard updates on hands-on programs: College Hill seniors built micro shelters for Unity Shelter as part of a construction program, TRIO Upward Bound supports 55 CHS students with college-prep experiences, and the district hosted a career convention with 279 community volunteers who helped students practice interviews.
