Orchard View board approves plumbing and electrical work for OVMS kitchen and hoop house

The Orchard View Schools Board of Education on May 19 approved two A-91 contracts to upgrade plumbing and electrical systems at Orchard View Middle School. The board voted 6-0 to award the student kitchen work to Muskegon Quality Builders for $17,398 and approved a separate $15,900 contract for plumbing and electric at the school27s hoop house.
Heather Lorenz-Babcock, Director of Finance, told the board the student kitchen work will be paid for by food service and scheduled after July 1, and that the hoop house work is covered by a grant to food service. "Food service will pay for this and it will occur after July 1," Lorenz-Babcock said during her presentation. The kitchen motion was moved by L. Nelson and seconded by J. Taylor; the hoop-house motion was moved by C. Bankhead and seconded by L. Nelson. Both motions carried unanimously.
The board recorded the vendor as Muskegon Quality Builders and set the projects to proceed according to the district27s A-91 procurement process. Work timelines were not further specified beyond the note that the kitchen project will occur after July 1, 2025.
