Board approves first reading of policy and administrative rule updates, holds medication rules for further review

The board approved the first reading of listed policy revisions and administrative rules on a 5–0 vote but held medication-related rules for additional review.
Board member Janece Payne moved to approve the first read of the listed policies and administrative rules with the exception of the JHCD Medications and JHCD/JHCDA Medications administrative rules; Alan Nidiffer seconded. The motion passed unanimously. The items approved at first read will return for a second reading at the next regular meeting.
Superintendent Helena Chirinian introduced the updates and staff indicated the medication-related administrative rules will be reviewed further before the board considers them again. The minutes record health teacher Jean Shearer provided supportive comments about one proposed high school health curriculum adoption.
