Duff provided facilities and activities updates: the new FFA barn construction is progressing quickly and staff planned photos with board members and students; district track events are being held at Shockman Field and grounds crews are maintaining fields. He also announced the 2025 IMESD Crystal Apple Award recipients — Daniela Gomez (Lead Secretary, McLoughlin High School), Cody King (Social Studies Teacher, Central Middle School), Amanda Lane (PE Teacher, Gib Olinger Elementary) and Grasciela Ramos (Paraprofessional, Ferndale Elementary) — and noted the awards ceremony is May 13 at 4:00 p.m. at the Pendleton Convention Center.
On labor negotiations, Duff said the two teams are getting closer to agreement and that the next negotiations session is scheduled for Thursday, May 15 at 5:30 p.m. in the Gib Olinger gym. Chair Claudia Limon told members the recent board training went well and alternate sessions will be offered for those who could not attend. The meeting adjourned at 6:55 p.m.; the next regular board meeting is Monday, June 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Freewater School.
