Board keeps The Great Body Shop as K-6 health curriculum

The Klamath County School District board on June 12 approved continuing The Great Body Shop as the district's health curriculum for kindergarten through sixth grade. The approval came after a presentation by Director of Elementary Curriculum Dr. Doris Ellison and was recorded as a unanimous vote.
"Dr. Ellison is proposing the continued use of The Great Body Shop for K-6 health education," the board packet stated; at the action meeting Marc Staunton moved to continue the program and Jill O'Donnell seconded the motion. The motion passed 5-0.
Dr. Ellison said the district will continue to use the materials in the 2025-26 school year and that the recommendation and supporting documentation are in the board packet. The decision carries forward existing instructional materials; the board did not direct any immediate curriculum changes or pilot programs during the meeting.
The curriculum adoption will be implemented by the curriculum office in coordination with building principals; staff and parents may review the instructional materials as provided in the packet.
