The Port Orford-Langlois School Board approved updates to two policies Aug. 18, voting to adopt changes to BDD (Board Meeting Procedures) and BDDH (Public Participation at Board Meetings).
Board members noted that time references in BDD need revision; for BDDH the board approved removing the superintendent as the contact and replacing that role with the district administrative assistant. Board member Carol Hacherl told the group that many policies online are more than 10 years old and suggested a staged approach, "taking one section at a time," to update the manual. Judy Miles moved to approve BDD with updated information; Carol Hacherl seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Miles then moved to approve BDDH with the updated contact and the motion passed unanimously as recorded in the minutes.
Board members agreed staff would begin a more in-depth review of policy sections, with Board member Hacherl working with Administrative Assistant Stephanie Griffith to start the process.
