Board recognizes student artists, alpine ski competitors and district communications director

At the April 10 work session, Superintendent Bret Champion invited teachers and coaches to the podium to present certificates of recognition. North Medford High School art teacher Lindsey Stout and South Medford High School art teacher Elizabeth Null presented awards to student winners of the district’s community art contest. Superintendent Champion also invited South Medford High School Coach Gary King and Assistant Coach Tucker Houck to recognize students who competed in the state alpine ski racing championships; students received certificates.
Champion announced that Communications and Community Relations Director Natalie Hurd was named Oregon's 2024-25 School Communicator of the Year by the Oregon School Public Relations Association (OSPRA). The transcript reports that Hurd "provided an overview of her journalism career that evolved into public relations for the district" and that she "expressed thanks to the communications team; leadership coach; the Board for supporting the work and hiring Superintendent Champion; and to Superintendent Champion for supporting communication."
