Executive Director of Security, Leadership and Facilities Ron Havniear and Facilities Manager Andy Chasteen reported to the Medford SD 549C Board on April 10 that work on the North Medford High School gymnasium is underway following previously noted damage. Staff listed specific progress items: "demo phase I - complete; professional services team selection - complete; engineer assessment - in progress; weather in and shoring contractor - in progress; temporary – permanent structure - in progress; engineer assessment of remaining structure - scheduled; weight room - equipment removal - complete; athletic equipment retrieval - in progress; locker clean out - scheduled."
Board directors asked follow-up questions about the extent of the damage and how much of the building might be salvaged. No formal vote or funding action occurred at the meeting; the update was informational and staff indicated further engineering assessment steps are scheduled. The board will consider next steps after staff returns with additional engineering findings and recommendations.
Provenance: update introduced SEG 026 and discussion recorded through SEG 027.
