During the Business & Fiscal Services report, Business Manager Toni Vandershule informed the board that one of the district's third-party contractors, Carruth Compliance, experienced a data breach. Carruth Compliance administers 403(b) retirement accounts for many Oregon districts.
Vandershule said the district has posted additional information on its website and is monitoring the situation. She noted the finance reports that accompanied the packet are actual numbers and therefore may not balance in the formatted report.
The board did not take immediate action at the meeting; Vandershule's announcement served as notification to the board and the public. District staff indicated they would follow up with details as they become available.
