Norco Fair’s 'Read to Ride' program expands with library partners and local sponsors

Izzy Henriksen, representing the Norco Fair junior fair committee, briefed the council on Read to Ride, a summer literacy and engagement program for children tied to fair activities. "Right now, we already have 69 participants," she said, reporting early program uptake after a July 1 start. Henriksen described partnerships with the Norco Library’s Beanstack program and local businesses that help provide prizes, ride tickets and event-day incentives.
Henriksen told council the program has grown from about 30 participants in year one to roughly 72 in the second year and is aiming for broader school-district engagement and an eventual target of 1,000 participants. Councilmembers recognized her work and encouraged the committee to continue outreach with schools and PTA organizations to expand participation.
