City Administrator Stacy Barnes told the council that the Alliance Ag dry fertilizer plant construction is underway and that the Kiowa County Media Center posted an aerial photo of the project. Barnes also reported KDHE completed the city's annual water system inspection and the final inspection of the new airport well with no major corrections.
Barnes said the grant agreement paperwork for the Kansas Airport Improvement Program runway paving project was received, signed and returned to KDOT, and that runway design is in its final stages. Separately, the vendor determined the last delivered asphalt load had issues and will provide a replacement load; the integrity issue explains visible tracks through recent repair work. Public Works and the Police Department will participate in the Kiowa County 4-H Fair touch-a-truck event happening the same week.
Council did not take formal action on these items but received the staff reports and continued routine oversight of capital projects and public works operations.
