Engineer says site for Berry water tank is provisional; elevation will drive final location

During a public hearing on a proposed 250,000-gallon elevated water tank, Jason Foote, introduced by meeting officials as the engineer in charge, told the board that the site used in the funding application is provisional and that the town has not yet contacted property owners for final siting. "We haven't had any conversations with any property owners," Foote said, explaining the placeholder is necessary to submit grant paperwork.
Foote and residents discussed hydraulic goals and structure height. The engineer said the project team is aiming for a top-of-tank elevation near 860 to meet system needs and that a higher ground elevation could allow a shorter tank structure. He also noted that if the chosen location is close to an airport, FAA lighting or marking requirements could apply and that setbacks depend on town code and possible variance processes. Construction timing remains dependent on grant awards; Foote estimated work might begin in 2027 if funding is secured.
