Committee member (S1) recommended the draft 2026–27 calendar built from the second-round survey and told the board it reflects the highest vote-getter options across several questions. "This is the calendar that contains all of the majority vote from the 2nd survey that was designed around the feedback from the 1st survey," Committee member (S1) said.
Board members discussed scheduling trade-offs including Veterans Day, conference timing, sports conflicts and the district's obligation to 174 paid staff days. Staff member (S5) and other members noted efforts to avoid scheduling major athletic events during key family breaks. Committee member (S3) indicated reservations about the change but the motion to adopt the “2627” calendar passed on the board floor.
The adopted calendar keeps the same number of student days as the previously debated extended calendar and sets the last student day as a half day on June 16. Members asked that staff hold community outreach — including listening sessions or a draft release — to clarify what instructional hours count and to solicit feedback before implementing broader schedule changes.
