The Spearman Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously on Sept. 8 to accept the superintendent's recommendation not to adopt a local policy regarding SB11, which the agenda described as "relating to a period of prayer and reading of the Bible or other religious text."
Trustee Anne Marie Pearson moved to accept the superintendent's recommendation; Trustee Jay Tracy seconded. The motion carried 7-0. The board record shows this was a formal decision to leave district policy unchanged in response to the cited state legislation.
