The Seaside School District board approved a resolution at a special meeting to correct a typographical error in the district—s posted tax resolution, changing the printed tax rate from 4.7745 to the correct 4.4105 per $1,000 of assessed value.
Jeff, asked to explain the item, said the resolution as printed included "an incorrect figure of 4.7745, per thousand of assessed value added to the resolution." He said the budget itself was adopted using 4.4105, so no budget rollback or re-adoption is required.
Board member Brian moved to approve what was recorded in the meeting as the "2026—6–2027 resolution number 1 to correct the tax rate as presented," and the motion was seconded by the chair. The board approved the correction by voice vote; the meeting transcript records only the chair calling for "all those in favor, say aye" and announcing the motion carried.
After the motion, the district business manager explained the source of the discrepancy, saying "when I started as business manager, I was given a tax rate, by Northwest Regional ESD, which was higher than the 4.4," and that auditors' paperwork had reflected the higher rate as well. The business manager said those references are incorrect and "those will be corrected during the next audit." The board did not request further changes to the adopted budget because, the staff said, the budget had been adopted on the correct 4.4105 rate.
The resolution corrects the figure on the document that imposes the tax; the board did not record a roll-call vote or named tally in the meeting transcript. The district indicated the higher rate shown in some external documents will be corrected by auditors during the next audit cycle.
