The Town of Barre board read and adopted a bond resolution on Dec. 10 authorizing a water-system capital improvements project at an "estimated maximum cost of $5,244,850," the chair read aloud. The work described includes construction of a new water storage tank, pump-station upgrades, telemetry and control-system installations, and disinfection byproduct reduction systems; the resolution delegates bond anticipation-note authority and directs engineers and counsel to prepare contracts and specifications.
The resolution was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote. Town officials said the estimate is to be offset, as available, by federal, state, county or local funds; staff and bond counsel listed required filing steps including recording a certified copy of the resolution with the county clerk and filing documents with bond counsel to complete the process.
