Principal Donna Sholtis told the board Innovations Academy serves 162 virtual students while in-person enrollment is around 100, with the school operating its largest staff to date to support seniors and partnerships that increase extracurricular opportunities. She attributed improved engagement to expanded extracurricular options and cross-school partnerships.
Sholtis said literacy access drives a number of gaps and that teachers are being trained to connect curriculum to students' lives; the principal emphasized student voice, leadership development, and coaching to support graduation. Trustees were invited to visit the virtual and in-person settings to observe practices and monitor progress.
