Library friends outline fundraising and new advocacy plans

Lisa Funderburg, speaking for the Broomfield Library Friends Foundation, told the board the group recently hosted two large fundraisers — the One Book One Broomfield title reveal in January and a Bingo Night at Chicken N Pickle in April — and runs the downstairs bookstore to support the library.
"We plan to spend 30k this year so we can spend 15k next on advocacy," Funderburg said. She outlined upcoming projects including a vending-machine-style kiosk to issue library cards and distribute some books, the One Book One Broomfield author event in November (with a small pre-event gathering), a February event for adults called "Palentines," and the annual kids bookmark contest themed "Unearth a Story." Board members asked about marketing channels and where event flyers are posted; Funderburg said the Friends use a newsletter and social media and the library includes event notices in its newsletter.
