County Superintendent Steve M. Tietjen told the Merced County Board of Education on Nov. 18 that a phased security project will install a fence around the MCOE complex with an automated door on the M Street side. The project will be done in phases, with the M Street parking-lot entrance closed beginning in December and a temporary entrance on N Street provided. The superintendent said the project is expected to be completed in early January.
The minutes show the superintendent also provided an elections update (with a further update expected by the end of Nov. 19) and thanked superintendent’s office staff for the reception. No construction contractor, cost, or funding source was listed in the public minutes; the superintendent's remarks were informational and the minutes do not show a separate board action authorizing the work.
