The council voted to appoint Dylan Suave to the City of Beacon Police Department and the mayor administered the oath of office.
"Dylan passed all the rigorous testing, agility, and background standards, including a polygraph, psychological assessment," the police chief (speaker 11) said in support of Suave’s appointment, noting Suave’s enrollment at Paul Smith College and his work with the Town of Fishkill. After a motion and a second, council members vocalized "aye" and the mayor swore Suave in: "I, Dylan Suave, do solemnly swear... that I will faithfully discharge the duties of City of Beacon police officer."
The police chief said Suave will attend in‑house training before beginning the academy later this summer. Council members welcomed the hire as part of ongoing efforts to fill vacancies in both the police and fire departments and to reduce reliance on overtime.
