Logan Dodd, Operations Manager for Public Works, explained the expanded scope and said movement in the area had begun to affect nearby utilities, requiring timely engineering evaluation and redesign. Councilmember Cesilia C. Garcia asked why Souder Miller, a New Mexico firm, was selected; Dodd said a competitive procurement process favored the most cost-effective proposal. Mayor Budge identified the engineering contract amounts as $22,410 for one wall and $15,310 for the other.
Council voted to approve Souder Miller’s proposal. Staff will proceed with engineering designs and follow normal contracting and construction steps once final designs are completed.
