The Town of Barre opened a public hearing on the preliminary 2026 budget in November 2025, Town Clerk Maureen Beach said. The hearing, held at Barre Town Hall, followed public notice that the draft budget had been filed in the clerk’s office for review.
Beach read the proposed officer salary schedule for 2026: Supervisor $10,232; council members (all four) $10,204 each; Justice $13,800; Town Clerk/Tax Collector $35,464; and Highway Superintendent $71,187. She said the budget is available for review at the clerk’s office at 14317 West Berry Road.
The figures were presented as part of the clerk’s announcement of the preliminary budget and not adopted at the hearing. No public commenters were recorded during the hearing; after soliciting input, the board moved to close the public hearing and adopted the closure by voice vote.
The clerk indicated next steps for the budget process are the usual post-hearing procedures; the transcript does not record a formal adoption vote on the budget itself at this meeting.
