Splash park gets final notice to proceed; county health permit still required, construction may start next month

City Administrator Michael Grayum reported the city received a final notice to proceed from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office for the splash park but still needs a permit from the Yakima County Health Department. He said the city anticipates construction will begin next month but that the splash park will not be completed in time for Community Days.
Grayum described the health department permit as the remaining critical approval; the minutes do not provide a permit issuance date, a construction start date beyond "next month," or a construction completion estimate. Staff said they will announce a ribbon-cutting for other park facilities (the pickleball courts) after surfacing and painting are completed.
