Rental board grants extension for 54 33rd Street permit to allow vehicle removal

Chair Sal Mangano opened the Town of Babylon Rental Board hearing on Aug. 5 and swore in the applicant for Case No. 1, who identified himself as Jorge Duran and gave his home address as 3 Quintine Drive in Amityville. During the oath Mangano asked, "Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, scribe God?" The applicant answered in the affirmative.
Board members raised a property-compliance issue: a vehicle was parked on the front lawn at the rental property, which the board said must be removed before the rental permit is issued. The board moved to extend the review period to Aug. 19 to give the homeowner time to remedy the violation; the motion was seconded and the board approved the extension. Chair Mangano said an inspector will visit the property between now and Aug. 19 to confirm that the vehicle is no longer on the lawn, after which the permit process may proceed.
The board noted three members—Carla Bryant, Mike Murray and Patrick Nolan—were excused from the evening, and the hearing will remain open only if outstanding issues or corrections are required. The applicant acknowledged the board's instruction and said he would inform his tenants.
