On July 21 the Tarkington ISD Board approved the 2025–26 Employee Compensation Plan as presented by Chief Financial Officer Thad Lasater. Lasater said House Bill 2 requires salary increases for classroom teachers based on years of experience; the proposed adjustments for support staff and administrators are reflected in the proposed budget. The motion, made by Jason Ward and seconded by Dwayne Stovall, passed 6–0 with one absence.
Board members noted they will review trending compensation data from the past four years to help inform future planning and retention efforts. No specific aggregate dollar totals were provided in the meeting minutes; further budget details are expected as staff refines implementation.
