The Tarkington ISD Board of Trustees approved revisions to the 2025–26 Student Code of Conduct July 21, including changes tied to House Bill 1481’s cellphone restrictions and adjustments to the consequence schedule for student cell-phone violations. The motion to approve, made by Jason Ward and seconded by Jackie Flores, passed 6–0 with one absence.
Chris Conner, Director of School and Student Services, reviewed the code updates and explained implications for discipline, expulsion and DAEP guidelines; High School Principal Sean McCabe and Middle School Principal Mary Lariviere shared campus-level perspectives on enforcement and listed anticipated challenges for the start of the school year. Superintendent Dr. Elna Davis previously noted the first day of school is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, 2025.
